My husband is a youth pastor and one of the benefits of being his wife is getting to take part in planning some of the events for our youth group. Every year we have a Grad Dessert night to congratulate and also send off our Grade 12’s as they not only graduate from high school to College/University or wherever the Lord leads them, but also from our High School Youth program into our Young Adults program. One of the neat things about our Grad Nights is it is a formal event and everyone wears what they wore to Prom/Grad Night. Since everyone was going to dress formal, I really wanted to make the decorations extra fancy! Here are some pictures from the night.
The table styling was inspired by this post from 100 Layer Cake. I got some great deals from Ikea – the long candle holder and tea light holders were all AS IS items!
We hung white paper lanterns of different sizes from the ceiling with gold and black tassels – DIY instructions for the tassels here.
I made this tray signage with my paper cutter with pearlized paper and pasted onto a tray, inspiration from here.
We had an amazing assortment of desserts donated from families from the church. Complete with a chocolate fountain… It definitely was a feast of sweets!
The night was a little bittersweet seeing off some of these students that we had spent four years with, but overall an amazing night of celebrating what God has done in their lives and an anticipation for where He will bring them in this upcoming season.
